How to calculate print size from pixels
Divide the image width and height in pixels by the desired print resolution in pixels per inch. A 4000 × 3000 pixel image printed at 300 PPI measures approximately 13.3 × 10 inches, or 33.9 × 25.4 centimeters.
Print width in inches = pixel width ÷ PPI
Print height in inches = pixel height ÷ PPI

The ideal resolution depends on the printer, image content and expected viewing distance. A lower PPI does not change the number of pixels in the image; it spreads those pixels over a larger physical area.

PPI versus DPI
PPI describes the number of image pixels used per printed inch. DPI technically describes the printer’s ink or toner dots per inch. The terms are often used interchangeably in print-size discussions, but this calculator uses PPI because it calculates from digital image pixels.

How many pixels do I need for an A4 print?

Does changing the PPI add more detail to my image?
No. Changing the PPI value alone does not create new image detail. It changes how densely the existing pixels are placed when printed.
Is 150 PPI enough for printing?
It can be sufficient for posters and larger prints viewed from a distance. For photographs and detailed prints viewed closely, 240–300 PPI is usually preferable.
